Driving directions when entering Galway

“Kyle Na Shee” Bed and Breakfast is on the coast road (GRATTAN ROAD ) and is located between the City Centre and Salthill.

If you choose to drive you will most likely enter Galway from either the Dublin N6 or Limerick (Cork, Shannon) road N18, Kyle Na Shee B&B can be found as follows:-:

1. On the approach road to Galway you will come to “MARTIN roundabout” that has one exit for Galway East and another for Galway West. Take the first exit Galway East exit.
2. Following all signs for City Centre you will pass the Corrib Great Southern Hotel on your right hand side. Go straight through this “SKERRIT roundabout” heading for city centre all the way.
3. At next “FFRENCH roundabout” you come to, you will see the city centre sign that points to the left. Take this first left exit. About 200/300 yards down here a side road branches left for docks and Salthill. Take this left road and follow it all the way (the sea on your left), eventually coming to a T Junction at the docks. This is a one-way street by the docks so turn left, and follow the road, left hand lane towards Salthill. You will see Jury's Inn Hotel, pass this hotel on your right hand side and head on over the bridge, out of the city centre.
4. Take first turn left immediately after crossing Wolfe Tone Bridge onto the Coast Road.
5. Grattan Park is the seventh turn right, on the right hand side opposite the sea and is exactly 6/10ths of a mile from Wolfe Tone Bridge. (It is the third road on the right immediately after the causeway to Mutton Island)
6. In Grattan Park, there is a little park with a row of 12 houses facing the sea, drive into Grattan Park behind these 12 houses to the fourth row and Kyle Na Shee is the first house on left.

7.This all sounds a long way from city centre, but believe me, we are a 10 minute walk from Quay Street in the heart of the city where all the theatres, pubs and restaurants are located.

IF ENTERING GALWAY from NORTHERN IRELAND via SLIGO N17, or from MAYO or ROSCOMMON N84, follow the signs for city centre. When in city centre (i.e. Eyre Square), follow signs for Salthill. This will also take you past Jury's Inn as in No 3 above and follow the above directions from there.

If taking the N59 from Clifden, continue straight through every intersection and traffic light through Salthill until you can see the sea in front of you and are at the roundabout beside Seapoint (on left), take 1st exit onto coast road behind Seapoint. By following the footpath by the sea you will take the first turn right onto Grattan Road. Grattan Park is the 2nd turn on left.

WALKING to KYLE NA SHEE  B&B from TRAIN/BUS STATION.

It's a 20/25 minute walk from the station ( Bus Eireann buses and trains operate from the same station and City Link Bus and other private Busses stop at the Tourist Office, approximately 50 yards from the Station). If you have luggage you will need a taxi. There should be a few taxis waiting to meet the arrival of each bus and train. If not walk down the hill (50 yards) and you are in Eyre Square. At the diagonally opposite corner from where you are standing is the TAXI RANK. It costs minimum fare to come to Grattan Park.

If you decide to walk if travelling light, make for the diagonally opposite corner already mentioned. Walk down across the square and straight through Williamsgate Street (about 100 yards long) straight on down Shop Street (500 yards long) curving left onto Quay Street (150 yards long). Continue on straight past Jury's Inn and over Wolfe Tone Bridge. Pass set of traffic lights for 50 yds until you come to the fork in the road. In the middle of the fork is a school set behind green railings. Take the left road that follows the green railings to the left of the school, onto Fr Burke Road, follow this road until you come to the Sea, turn right and Grattan Park is the next opening on the right.  Drive/Walk into Grattan Park and Kyle Na Shee Number 37 Grattan Park, is on the fourth row.
